Better late then never!

The sailing trip around Mallorca (not 1,5 month as I just noticed)

"I am a citizen of the most beautiful nation on earth. A nation whose laws are harsh yet simple, a nation that never cheats, which is immense and without borders, where life is lived in the present. In this limitless nation, this nation of wind, light, and peace, there is no other ruler besides the sea."

Bernard Moitessier

We, Karin, Manu and Axel left Premiá de Mar with good winds and overcast. When the night set in a thunderstorm hit us, which ripped the genua in bits. From then on we were riders on the storm between heaven and hell: 14 hours, 3-5 meter waves and winds up to 50 knots, horizontal rain, soaking wet, cold and exhausted. 11:00 the next day the first sunrays came through and we changed the frontsail and direction towards Mallorca.

We landed safely in Pollença but our world was up side down and our legs shaking. From then on the trip was just beautiful. We met friends "les limones" a french family, Manü, Sophie, La Luna and Sinai, who managed to get themself into trouble everywhere they went. :) We think they just wanted to make us feel good as we had to save them a few times. We sailed together pretty much the whole trip and hopefully will again next year.

We came to a bay or inlet called Porto Colum, we anchored off the little town for a week or two, it was lovely.

We went from cala (bay) to cala around the south east and south coast of Mallorca, it felt like it could just go on like this forever. Hopping to the next island, next country, next ocean, next paradise...

Finally the day came and we had to head back to Barcelona, almost felt like we were chased away from Mallorca by this big "pirate" ship. The crossing back home was lovely. Caught a tuna, went swimming in 1.400 meter depth, had lots and lots of dolphines guiding our way, beautiful sunset and sunrise and .... no wind, which was a killer as we had to motor most of the way. It was the yin of the yang (or the other way around) to the crossing one month earlier from Barcelona to Mallorca.

We are also working on a little video clip, stay tuned.
