After a brief visit from Michalis and Giorgos, the local mechanics, we have the faulty waterpump in our hands, a new one has been ordered and should arrive tonight by bus and ferry and tomorrow morning it will be built in again. If all goes well.
It is interesting to think about how limited the people on the islands are, how EVERYTHING they need must be ordered by ferry and paid extra for. From Linaria there is a bus going to Chora, the capital of Skyros twice a day, and there is a ferry to Athens once a day. Considering that you sometimes waiting for the tube for four minutes in the big cities seems like an etirnity... This must be eternity... And, what happens if you miss the morning bus to Chora? You cant come to work at all that day?
